Privacy Policy

Your code stays yours.

Who we are

Arc is a product of Open Interface Engineering, Inc., a Delaware B-Corp headquartered in Sarasota, Florida. This privacy policy applies to the Arc IDE, the arc-lang.dev website, and related services.

What we collect

Arc is designed to be local-first. The following data principles apply:

  • Your source code is never sent to our servers. Energy metering, LSP analysis, and Lift operations run locally on your machine.
  • Cascade levels L0-L2 operate entirely offline with zero network access.
  • Cascade levels L3+ (LLM queries) send only the query context you explicitly approve. No code is sent without your action.
  • Energy receipts are stored locally. If you opt in to anonymous aggregate reporting, only summary statistics (total energy, language, target platform) are shared.
  • Website analytics: We use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics. No personal data is collected from website visitors.

What we do not collect

  • Source code or file contents
  • File names or directory structures
  • Keystrokes or editor interactions
  • Personal identifying information (unless you create an account)
  • Third-party tracking cookies

Account data

If you create an Arc account (for collaboration, cloud sync, or deployment features), we store your email address and a cryptographic authentication token. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Account data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Data retention

Local data is under your control. You can delete all Arc data at any time by running arc reset --all. Account data is retained until you delete your account.

Third-party services

When you use L3+ cascade queries, your query (not your code) may be processed by a language model provider. Arc displays which provider will be used before you confirm. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
